Author : Qingda Date : 2/11/2012 9:58:01 PM
Proper care and maintenance not only maintain the handbag condition but also extend its lifespan.
    1. To maintain the leather surface, apply leather wax regularly. Avoid using liquid wax.
    2. Avoid applying leather wax directly onto the leather. Instead apply the wax on place of soft cloth first.
    3. Keep the handbag dry in a wall ventilated environment, bags that get moist easily should be kept in moisture-proof bags.
    4. If the handbag gets wet, use a piece of cloth to dry it off immediately, then keep it in cool and shady place, away from direct sunshine/ strong light or direct cool air from air conditioning unit else cracks might appear on the leather. When the leather has harden after drying, you may apply leather wax.
    5. Keep the handbag away from contaminants such as oil, water or other chemicals and inflammable chemicals. Use a cleaning rag to clean the handbag. Using alkali or detergent may soften/ wrinkle/ crack the leather.
    6. Use an eraser to rub away dirt on a deerskin handbag. For daily maintenance, use a soft brush in the direction of the pattern on the leather.
    7. For long-term storage, clean the surface first and stuff paper or cotton inside to maintain its shape. Protect the bag with cotton and avoid pressing it to prevent its shape from deforming.
    8. If the zipper does not operate smoothly, spread some wax on it.
    9. Counter-niter, rubbing leather wax or gasoline may remove the stain.
    10. Metal oxidation ( gold, silver, brass buckle ). For silver buckle, rub off the spots using burnishing before applying clear leather wax. For gold buckle, never use burnishing. Rub lightly with transparent skin grease to remove them. To prevent oxidation, apply enamel on the brass or metal buckle ( Except colourful buckle ).
